In 鬼滅の刃 遊郭編 Episode 7, we finally meet 妓夫太郎 (Gyūtarō), Daki’s older brother.
The episode shows a battle between Tengen andGyūtarō.

Daki teethes with anger as she is forced to regenerate her body after she was burnt by Nezuko’s Blood Demon Art. As she approaches the Kamado siblings, she says this.
よくもまあ、やってくれたわね。
yokumo mā yatte kureta wane
Really, such nerve doing that to me.
よくもまあ means ‘how dare you’.
If you are to say this in a formal context, you can say this.
よくもまあ、やってくれましたね。
yokumo mā yatte kuremashita ne
2 – What’s this sorry state?
Uzui Tengen appears to save the Kamado siblings from Daki. He expresses his surprise at Nezuko’s demonisation.
何だ、この体たらくは。
nan da kono teitaraku wa
What’s this sorry state?
体たらく can mean ‘unpleasant state’, ‘predicament’ or a ‘mess’. In formal language, you can say this.
この体たらくは何ですか。
kono teitaraku wa nandesuka
3 – You just made it easy for me.
Daki sees Tengen and excitedly reacts to a Hashira arriving before her, and says this.
手間が省けた。
tema ga habuketa
You just made it easy for me.
手間 refers to ‘time and labor expected to accomplish a task’.
省く means ‘to eliminate’, and 省けた is its past potential form (“I was able to eliminate“).
In formal language, you can say this.
手間が省けました。
tema ga habuke mashita.
4 – I am not talking to you.
In response to Daki, Tengen reacts coldly and tells that she’s too weak to be an Upper Rank Demon. He tells her this.
お前とはなしてねぇよ。
omae to hanashite nē yo
I am not talking to you.
In formal language, you can say this.
あなたに話しているんじゃありません。
anata ni hanashite irun ja arimasen
5 – I have no use for you anymore.
Tengen’s priority is to have Taniro settle Nezuko. Tengen makes it clear that he has no time for Daki.
もう、お前に用はねぇよ。
mō omae ni yō wa nē yo
I have no use for you anymore.
用がある means ‘to have business’ or ‘to have something one needs to attend to’. ねえ is a variant 無い, which means ‘none’. Therefore, “お前に用は無い” means ‘I have no business with you‘.
In formal language, you can say this.
もう、あなたに用はありません。
mō anata ni yō wa arimasen
6 – Just die an unflashy death.
After decapitating Daki, Tengen tells her this.
地味に死にな。
jimi ni shinina
Just die an unflashy death.
地味 (unflashy) is the opposite of 派手 (flashy). Therefore, for Tengen, 地味 is the word he hates the most.
In formal language, you can say this.
地味に死んでください。
jimi ni shinde kudasai
7 – Just relax and leave it to me, dammit!
Inozuke and Zenitsu announces their arrival. Tanjiro asks them to support Tengen while he will put Nezuko back to the box, Inosuke says this.
まかせて、安心しとけ、ゴラァ！
makashite anshin shitoke gora!
Just relax and leave it to me, dammit!
「ゴラァ」or「コラ」are words that mean ‘hey’. These words are often used when the speaker wants someone’s attention to express his/her frustration. This is used as a verbal tick for many anime characters.
In formal language, you can say this.
まかせて、安心しておいて下さい。
makasete anshin shite oite kudasai
8 – Are you kidding me?
After hearing that Tengen has three wives, Gyūtarō expresses his frustration and says this.
ふざけるなよ。
fuzakeru na yo
Are you kidding me?
ふざけないで下さい。
fuzakenaide kudasai
9 – Either way, I have to do it.
Tengen theorises that to kill both Daki and Gyūtarō, he would need to cut off the both demons’ heads even though this is unheard of. Whether he’s correct or not, he decides to test it out.
どのみち、やるしかねえ！
dono michi yarushika nē
Either way, I have to do it.
どのみち means ‘in any case’.
〜しかない is an expression that means ‘there’s no choice but …’
In formal language, you can say this.
どのみち、やるしかありません。
donomichi yarushika arimasen
10 – Well, I can tell it’s not going to be a walk in the park.
Tengen admits that it won’t be easy to defeat these two demons.
ま、一筋縄じゃ行かねえわな。
ma, hitosujinawa ja ikanē wana
Well, I can tell it’s not going to be a walk in the park.
一筋縄 literally means ‘a rope’. However, 一筋縄では行かない is an expression which means ‘not straightforward’.
In formal language, you can say this.
まあ、一筋縄じゃ行きませんよね。
maa, hitosujinawa ja ikimasen yo ne
