Who is Toge Inumaki?
狗巻棘 (Toge Inumaki) is a supporting character in 呪術廻戦. He is a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High and is a Semi-Grade 1 呪言師 (Curse User).
His 術式 (Curse Technique) is 呪言 (Cursed Speech).呪言 allows him to infuse his words with cursed energy and forces those who hears his commands to obey. As his abilities are active all the time,狗巻 communicates with a limited vocabulary restricted to onigiri fillings.
In this article, we will explore狗巻‘s vocabulary.
しゃけ – Salmon
しゃけ refers to ‘salmon’. This word can also be pronounced as 「さけ」, and you often see this word written either in hiragana or katakana. For onigiri filling, salted and grilled salmon is used.
Inumake uses this word for affirmation.
おかか – Bonito flakes
おかか refers to bonito flakes seasoned with soy sauce. おかか is used as a garnish. Inumaki uses this word for negation.
The author of 呪術廻戦 confirms Inumaki uses しゃけ for affirmation and おかか for negation. However, the meanings of other words are unknown.
高菜 – Mustard leaf
高菜 (takana) refers to ‘mustard leaf’. Inumaki doesn’t say this word very often but it seems to mean something like ‘it’s alright’ or ‘leave it to me’.
As an onigiri filling, 高菜 (takana) normally refers to pickled mustard leaf stir-fried with soy source, sugar, sake etc.
明太子 – Cod roe
明太子 refers to salted sacks of pollock roe. The roe is marinated in powdered chiles and other spices. The tiny eggs are packed tightly together and encased in a very thin membrane.
昆布 – Kelp
昆布 (konbu) refers to edible seaweed called kelp. Generally, こんぶの佃煮 (こんぶ boiled in soy sauce) is used for onigiri filling.
いくら – Matured Salmon Roe
いくら refers to matured salmon roe, generally picked in soy sauce. While いくら can technically refer to both salmon roe and trout roe, normally the word refers to salmon roe.
すじこ – Immature Salmon Roe
すじこ refers to immature salmon roe within the egg sack. Again, the word technically refers to both salmon roe and trout roe, generally it refers to salmon roe.
ツナ – Tuna
ツナ refers to cooked tuna. Generally, the word refers to canned tuna.
ツナマヨ – Tuna and Mayo
ツナマヨ refers to a mixture of ツナ and マヨネーズ. Apparently, this is Inumaki’s favourite onigiri filling.
Other Vocabulary
As explained before his vocabulary is limited to onigiri filling due to his inherited technique – Cursed Speech (呪言 jugon). However, there are several occasions where he performed this technique. When he does, he used the imperative form.

捻じれろ (nejirero): Get twisted
潰れろ(tsuburero): Get crushed
堕ちろ (ochiro): Fall
動くな (ugokuna): Don’t move
眠れ (nemure): Sleep
戻れ (modore): Return
ぶっ飛べ (buttobe): Blast away
